Community partners cut the ribbon on the new dental clinic

The Springfield City School District and Rocking Horse Community Health Center celebrated the opening of a new dental clinic at The Health Center at Springfield High on Friday morning, further expanding access to comprehensive medical care for SCSD students.

Made possible through grant funding via the Ohio Department of Health and Delta Dental, the dental clinic will offer exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions exclusively to District students. During Friday’s ribbon cutting ceremony, it was announced that The Health Center’s new dental clinic is one of 46 school based health centers in Ohio that offer dental services. This addition fills a critical health need in Clark County where one dentist exists for every 2,500 residents.

Earlier this spring, mobile dental services were launched throughout the District.

The Health Center offers primary care, mental health, vision and dental services in a dedicated space on the lower floor of Springfield High School. Research shows that student attendance and grades improve in school districts where a SBHC is present.
