The Springfield City School District has announced that Dr. Ronald Gordon will be recommended to the Board of Education as the next Athletic Director.

A proud graduate of Springfield South High School, Ron is a lifelong product of the Springfield community. Dr. Gordon brings a unique combination of athletic leadership, community engagement, and student-centered service to lead the Wildcats, a Division I program in the Greater Western Ohio Conference.

He served as a collegiate Athletic Director for six years and currently serves Springfield City School District as Director of Community Initiatives. In this role, he worked to strengthen partnerships, expand student opportunities, connect families with valuable resources and spearheaded a number of new district initiatives.

"Dr. Gordon's passion for Springfield, commitment to students, and proven leadership experience made him stand out throughout a highly competitive interview process," said Dr. Bob Hill, CEO/Superintendent. "He understands our community because he is part of our community. His ability to build relationships, develop programs, and bring people together around a common vision will serve our student-athletes, coaches, and families well."

Dr. Gordon's vision for athletics extends beyond competition. He views athletics as an extension of the educational experience, helping students develop leadership, accountability, teamwork, resilience, and pride in their school and community.

"I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Athletic Director for the Springfield City School District," said Dr. Gordon. "As a Springfield graduate, this community has played a significant role in shaping who I am. I look forward to working alongside our coaches, student-athletes, families, staff, alumni, and community partners to build upon the proud tradition of Wildcat Athletics while creating a new era of excellence for the Springfield Athletic Program."

Dr. Gordon is expected to begin transitioning into his new responsibilities on July 1, pending official Board approval.
