The Springfield City School District is proud to announce that Lagonda Elementary School has received The Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. Lagonda is one of fewer than 250 schools in the state to earn this award for their results on the 2024-2025 Ohio School Report Cards.
The Momentum Award recognizes schools and districts that have improved their Performance Index (relates to the level of achievement of every student in grades 3-12 on the Ohio State Tests) by 3 or more points from the previous year, while also achieving a Value-Added rating (measures academic progress by comparing the change in a group of students' achievements against an anticipated level of progress, derived from their past achievement records) of 4 or more stars. This award seeks to celebrate the individuals who consistently prioritize efforts to create a supportive learning environment that fosters growth, collaboration and success.
Lagonda Principal Shawnkeida Whitlow is proud of the progress that Lagonda has made and what it symbolizes for the building’s families and the District as a whole.
“This is an exceptional team, hardworking and deeply collaborative,” she said. “We’re ready to keep moving the needle forward!”
