The Springfield High School Mock Trial Team has a storied history of success.

2026 will mark the team’s 5th consecutive and 12th overall appearance at the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education’s (OCLRE) State Mock Trial Competition.

SHS will compete for the championship in mid-March in Columbus. In 2024, SHS won the state competition, advancing to the national level and finishing as a Top 10 team.

In addition to the victories achieved as a team, students have accumulated 34 individual awards so far this season; a total of 388 awards in the program’s 15-year history.

Mock Trial offers an innovative approach to learning law and how the legal system works. Guided by teachers and volunteer legal advisors, high school students participate in an original, unscripted simulated trial written by attorneys. Students argue both sides of the case in courtrooms across the state and are judged by representatives of the legal profession.

SHS is advised by Katy Osborn, Of Counsel, with Bricker Graydon Wyatt, LLP and Megan Farley, Grand Jury Director at the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.
