Seven Springfield High School students aren’t just kicking off 2026 with resolutions—they’re starting it with state-issued credentials. After successfully passing the Ohio certification exam, these students are now officially Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), ready to step into the healthcare workforce before graduation!
Please join the District in celebrating the following students:
Kennedy Czarnecki
London Lee
Ashley Ortiz
Danie Pascal
Maliyah Portman
Sa'Vaha Thompson
Ja'Nyia White
The achievement comes through the District’s new CNA coursework for high school students, part of its Career Pathways program. Career Pathways connect classroom learning to seven high-demand career fields, including Healthcare, Engineering & Manufacturing, Construction, Digital Media, Business, Culinary Arts and Unmanned Aerial Systems, giving students a head start on real-world careers.
The CNA pathway includes two courses: CNA Certification and Patient-Centered Care. Students receive hands-on training in essential patient care skills such as monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily living needs, performing safety checks, maintaining sanitary environments and interpreting EKGs.
Now fully certified, these students are eligible for immediate employment in hospitals, long-term care facilities and other healthcare settings. Each has expressed interest in continuing their education and pursuing a career in the medical field.
To support this pathway, SHS added a new lab space prior to the school year, which allows students to access real clinical equipment and simulations.
