The Health Center at Springfield High School celebrated its one year anniversary on Thursday with a community celebration.
The health center, which operates in partnership with the Rocking Horse Community Health Center, opened in August 2024. In the past year, the health center has completed more than 4,000 appointments, as well as added vision care to its list of services.
District and Springfield families were invited to celebrate this milestone at the health center with raffle prizes, refreshments and information tables from community partners.
The idea to create a school based health center was derived from community feedback regarding ‘Access to Care’ as part of the creation of the District’s 2022-2025 Strategic Plan. The health center offers mental health services, well child visits, immunizations and same-day sick visits for SCSD students.
“Watching this space grow into a trusted, welcoming place for students and community members to get the care they need has been wonderful,” said Springfield City School District School Based Health Center Coordinator Anita Biles. “I’m proud of what we have built here, and I am excited to see how the health center continues to serve our students moving forward.”
Dental care is anticipated to be added in the near future.
