The Springfield City School District is excited to announce Ms. Ashley Lemen as the next principal of Roosevelt Middle School.

A former Roosevelt student herself, Ms. Lemen is looking forward to stepping into her new role beginning August 1.

“My biggest goal right now is to connect with the people who make up our school—students, families and staff—and take the time to really listen and learn,” Lemen said. “I want to build on the great things already happening at Roosevelt and work together to keep moving forward. My vision is to empower students to be leaders, keep communication open and honest and build a school culture that feels like family—positive, supportive and full of pride.”

Ms. Lemen has over 20 years of experience working in the District, first beginning her career at the former Grayhill Elementary and most recently holding the Assistant Principal position at Schaefer Middle School.

“She will leverage her vast and varied experience in leadership to complement the strengths and needs of Roosevelt’s community,” said Heidi Shanor, District Director of Educational Leadership.

Lemen fills the role previously held by long-time Roosevelt Principal Monte Brigham, who recently retired after 26 years.
