The Springfield City School District Athletic Department is proud to recognize the 2024 Class of The SCSD Athletic Hall of Fame. The inductees are:

  • Lindsey Butterfield, Springfield High School Class of 2010 (Volleyball)

Lindsey Butterfield-Roth is one of the most decorated volleyball players to ever take the court. Butterfield was a 4-year varsity letter winner and a 3-time captain of her high school volleyball team. She was a 2-time MVP for the Wildcats and helped lead the team to their best season in school history when the Wildcats finished 23-2 and won the GWOC Championship in 2009. Butterfield earned First Team All-GWOC honors for all four years of HS. She was the All-Area Player of the Year as a junior and senior. As a senior in 2009, Lindsey was selected as the GWOC Player of the Year and the Clark County ‘Miss Volleyball.’

  • Coach Larry Ham (Basketball)

In 1992, Larry Ham was hired as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Springfield South High School, where he led the Wildcats to great success. During his 14 years as coach, the team won seven conference championships and five district titles. Ham’s Wildcats played in the regional championship finals three times. He also coached the Trotwood Madison Boys Basketball team for two years, winning two league and two District Championships, compiling a record of 42-7. His career record at Springfield South was 241 wins and 79 losses. Ham received numerous awards for his coaching success. He was named league Coach of the Year seven times, District 9 Coach of the Year five times, District 15 Coach of the Year three times and Clark County Coach of the Year three times. Ham was also selected to serve as the South Coach of the Ohio North-South Basketball game in 2006.

  • North High School 1994 Girls Track State Champions (4x200 & 4x400 relay teams)

The 1994 Springfield North HS Girls Track team was one of the strongest groups to ever take the track for the Panthers, finishing 3rd at the OHSAA State Championships behind the efforts of Carrie Bayless, Kaamilya Davis, Faith Foster, Maria Moss and Deidra Phillips. The Panthers competed at the 1994 State Championships in the 4x100m relay, the 4x200 relay and the 4x400m relay. The 4x200m relay team, composed of Davis, Bayless, Phillips and Moss would sprint past the competition to win the OHSAA State Championship. The 4x400 team of Foster, Bayless, Moss and Davis would close out the meet by claiming another State Championship. The Panthers’ 3rd place finish in the team standings was also bolstered by a 6th place finish by Moss in the 100m dash and an individual State Championship by Davis, who won the 400m dash.

These individuals were honored by the Athletic Department prior to the Springfield High School boys basketball game on Feb. 10, 2024.
