A Springfield High School graduate walks across the field

More than 400 students are set to graduate from the Springfield City School District on Saturday.

The District’s Commencement is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Springfield High School Stadium, pending inclement weather.

This year’s Valedictorian is Hannah Mattison. She plans to attend Haverford College to major in art history and philosophy. Hannah was part of the State Championship and nationally-ranked SHS Mock Trial Team. Class Salutatorian is Brody Burcham. He plans to attend The Ohio State University to major in finance and minor in entrepreneurship. During his junior year, Brody achieved 2nd Team All-Ohio in soccer. He is the first boys soccer player in SCSD history to achieve an all-state team.

The Class of 2024 has their sights set on a variety of life paths. According to a survey administered earlier this year, roughly 230 soon-to-be graduates will be enrolling in a college or university, 30 will be enlisting in the military, 60 will be joining the workforce and 30 will be pursuing a trade. The District encourages students to ‘Tell Us Your E’ as part of a new tradition that celebrates next steps after graduation.
