Cell Phone Pouches: No Mobile Phones Policy (Grades 7-12)

The District has adopted the use of YONDR Pouches, to be used by all students grades 7-12 during the school day to maintain cell phone-free school buildings. The primary aim of this policy is to ensure that personal electronic devices on district and school property do not disrupt the learning environment, compromise safety or impact the well-being of students and staff during the school day. A personal electronic device includes, but is not limited to:

  • cellular phones,

  • smartphones,

  • earphones,

  • headphones,

  • smart watches,

  • or any device that allows access to the internet, or any similar device or any accessories to such devices such as earphones and Bluetooth devices.

At the start of each school day, expectations are as follows:

  1. Turn OFF your device(s) prior to entering the building.

  2. Upon entering the building, place all personal electronic devices in your Yondr Pouch. School staff will be present and ask for verification that your device(s) are in the pouch.

  3. Securely close the pouch.

  4. You are responsible for getting to class on-time with a secured pouch.

During School Day:

  1. Keep your personal electronic device(s) inside your Yondr Pouch for the duration of the school day.

  2. If you leave campus for an appointment, unlock your pouch in the main office and proceed to leave the building. Upon re-entry, you must relock your pouch in the main office/attendance window.

  3. You may NOT access your personal electronic device(s) during the school day anywhere on campus.

End of School Day:

  1. When your school day ends, unlock your pouch using an unlocking base.

  2. Remove your personal electronic device(s) from your pouch.

  3. Securely close your empty pouch. It is your responsibility to maintain a properly working pouch.

  4. Students are free to use their personal electronic device(s) upon leaving campus.

There are plans in place for emergencies and medical use of devices. Additional information will be shared to answer your questions prior to the beginning of school.
