The Springfield City School District will host a Substitute Hiring Event this month to build the District’s base of substitute employees.
The hiring event is open to the public and will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Clark Preschool (1500 W. Jefferson Street). The District is hiring for the following substitute positions: teachers, class aides, bus drivers, bus aides, custodians and kitchen aides.
The starting pay rate for substitute teachers in the District is $120-$194/day. Other substitute positions start at $13-$17/hour. The SCSD also offers flexible schedules and on-the-job training for many positions.
The hiring event is ‘drop-in style’. Interested applicants may arrive anytime between 5-7 p.m. Attendees should prepare to be interviewed on site.
“It cannot be stressed how important substitutes are to our daily operations and each child’s educational journey,” said SCSD Superintendent Dr. Bob Hill.
