Kenwood Elementary students celebrated Veterans Day by inviting veteran family members to join them at school to give thanks for their service.
Student attendees led the pledge, fourth grade students read a poem and kindergarten students sang, 'You’re a Grand Old Flag.' First and second grade students also colored pictures and third grade wrote letters to local veterans.
The oldest veteran to attend was Kiwanis member, Nelson T. Smith, who served on the USS Yorktown from 1960-1963.
School staff, who are also veterans, were honored includuing Jeannette Anderson, Eric Brunger, Jeannina Fraley, Tracy George, Brett Sadler and John Young.
