The Springfield City School District is proud to recognize 3 staff members as 'The 2025 Employees of the Year' for their commendable dedication to the District's students.
Nominated by their coworkers, each of them shine a bright light throughout our District in their own unique ways. Please join in celebrating these incredible Wildcats:
• Sara Gillespie, Intervention Specialist at Hayward Middle
Ms. Sara Gillespie has gone above and beyond in her first year as an Intervention Specialist after previously teaching English Language Arts. She earned her TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification while taking on new roles to better support students at every level. Ms. Gillespie also organized and led all amendment IEP meetings for Hayward Middle School students moving to high school, ensuring smooth, well-documented transitions. Her dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence make her an invaluable asset to both students and staff.
• Doug Stoll, Safety Team at Springfield High School
Mr. Doug Stoll, known as 'Fresh' to all he comes in contact with, is a steady and trusted presence at Springfield High School, always putting students’ well-being first. In his role as a Safety Team member, he helps students work through challenges without rushing to discipline, creating space for understanding and growth. Whether de-escalating situations, protecting staff and peers, or supporting the safety team, Doug consistently goes above and beyond. His dedication, teamwork, and care make him an invaluable part of the SHS community.
• Patrick Smith, Principal at Lincoln Elementary
Nominated for his outstanding leadership and integrity, Mr. Patrick Smith is known for supporting students and staff with a calm demeanor in his role as principal at Lincoln. Mr. Smith fosters a restorative and positive school culture where everyone feels valued, modeling openness through his true 'open door' policy. He offers guidance without judgment and celebrates successes alongside challenges. Whether greeting students each morning or encouraging staff growth, Mr. Smith leads with empathy, humility, and unwavering positivity.
Each of these employees will be recognized at the next Board of Education meeting and have also received a reserved parking spot at their respective buildings.
