Teachers and Mentors Paired with Advanced Educational Technology at Springfield City School District
Throughout our District classroom teachers and mentors are linking students with real-world learning. Our state of the art technology includes a high speed network and a "one to one" approach, where each student has a laptop for his or her use at school.
- Our school board just approved extending this program to our youngest elementary students.
- Our high school students and students in OnCourse, our blended learning program, are able to take their laptops home.
In addition to our school day use of technology, our afterschool programs provide access to state of the art technology to support student learning, as illustrated below:
Springfield City School District Graduate John Legend Mentors Students
Award-winning Springfield City School District graduate John Legend recently mentored Springfield students! Area high school students who attend our afterschool YOUmedia program at The Dome have been working on music production with local mentors. They all connected to John and his music director via the latest technology from Cisco and LRNG. We're thrilled to bring this technology - and great experts - to the Greater Springfield community.
