Responsible Reopening Update for December 28, 2020
December 28, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians:
We made it! The end of the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year is upon us and we have reached a well-deserved holiday break for our students, families, and staff. I realize that there have been many barriers along the way, but I could not be more proud of all stakeholders for what I believe to be a successful year thus far. As a District, we continue to listen and try to improve our processes for the benefit of our students and families.
Our teacher teams met again in December to review the first semester and to determine how to better serve our stakeholders. For your reference, second semester teaching and learning plans for both virtual students and students learning virtually due to quarantine can be found here:
- Semester Two Grades K-6 Teaching and Learning Template
- Semester Two Middle School Teaching and Learning Template
- Semester Two High School Teaching and Learning Template
Please note that the recommended time allotment for individual subjects may change based on scheduling and to best meet the needs of the student and teacher.
As a reminder, the updated active working draft of the SCSD Responsible Reopening Plan can be accessed here for your reference and I encourage you to frequently visit our Responsible Reopening page here for updates.
2020 has been an interesting year for our great nation and the world as a whole. Without the support of our students, families, and community, the Springfield City School District would not be where it is today. From tackling new demands of digital technologies, navigating through the unchartered territories of virtual and in-person schedules, adhering to the best health practices and social distancing protocols from the CDC, and the bravery everyone displayed when we quickly learned what it meant to quarantine, I thank you. I am quite confident that we will all emerge stronger on the other side of this global pandemic and I assure you that there is no other group of students, families, staff or educators that I want beside me in this journey.
Thank you Springfield and go Cats!
Robert F. Hill, Ed.D.
