May 15, 2020

Dear SCSD Parents and Guardians,

And the countdown begins...one more full week of school to go for our students! Knowing that we are approaching the end of our journey for this school year, the purpose of today’s communication is to remind families of several year end procedures, as well as asking families to complete a survey to help us improve our practices as they relate to distance learning.

As stated each week, it is very important to read weekly updates in their entirety, as the District will continue to answer many year end procedural questions.

Distance Learning Survey

The District is partnering with BrightBytes to learn more about how our community is responding to teaching and learning remotely. We want to hear how you and your child(ren) are adjusting during this unprecedented time and learn how the District can better support you.

We ask that students in grades 2-12, as well as all (grades PK-12) teachers, principals, and parents or guardians provide input on this survey. The survey will take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. If you have children in more than one school, please complete the survey for each child.

Your participation is crucial in providing a comprehensive understanding of how we can improve support for you and your student(s) during this time.

We are collecting survey responses from Friday, May 15 through Wednesday, May 27. Below is the URL to access our district survey landing page. Once there, select the Parent survey and then select your school from the drop-down menu.

The District thanks you for quickly providing this critical information. We want to do everything we can to ensure you and your student(s) are successful during this time. We appreciate you!

In addition to the survey information, please be aware of the following:

Events and Facilities

Until we receive further instruction from Governor DeWine, the SCSD buildings, playgrounds and athletic facilities must remain closed. Facility closures are ordered from the Ohio Department of Health and are necessary to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and to protect our communities.

Graduation

Graduation filming began on Thursday, May 14 and will end on Friday, May 22. Graduation coverage will be shared on May 30, 2020, via a combination of YouTube, FaceBook, and Springfield 5 available for Spectrum Cable subscribers in the City of Springfield.
