Welcome to Clark Early Learning Center

The preschool experience provides an important foundation for future school success. It is a time of extraordinary growth and change in which your child will develop the foundational skills, knowledge, understanding and interests he/she will need to become a successful learner.

It is the intent of the Early Learning Center staff to enhance student development so that children enter kindergarten ready to learn. We are committed to the development of the whole child: cognitive and aesthetic growth, physical well-being, emotional development, and positive social relationships. Our curriculum is differentiated, developmentally appropriate and aligned with the Ohio Early Learning Developmental Standards for preschool children. Developmentally appropriate practice provides an atmosphere in which all children can be successful. It supports young children’s needs for activity, sensory stimulation, fresh air, rest and nourishment. It stimulates thinking and problem solving skills.

Our teachers consider what children should be able to do, what each child can do, and then teaches to each child’s strengths and interests. The learning environment and teaching approaches are designed to meet the individual needs of the child. The curriculum provides a balance of child initiated and teacher guided experiences. Children will learn through exploration, investigation, discovery, observation, inquiry, decision making, and experimentation. The teachers plan learning activities that provide rich opportunities in language arts, science, social studies, math, music, art, dramatics, sensory-motor, and physical development. Purposeful PLAY is the vehicle through which children learn. Hands on and intentionally planned learning centers are provided for learning.

The student handbook for the Clark Early Learning Center has important information about our programming and The Springfield City School District in general. If you have any questions about any of the contents regarding the handbook, please contact me. Check out the Virtual Backpack for the handbook file. Have a great year!
